Not just any materials

Our story

When I started restoring the gardens over 20 years ago, I had no idea that we would end up with a stationery and book shop to add to 12 acres of glorious gardens but in 2024 I was getting restless for a new idea to bring people to our unknown but very pretty village.

Books have been the centre of the gardens revival. Researching, learning, notetaking have all been part of the story and my notebooks recording my earliest work on the gardens and planting schemes are some of my most precious possessions.

As well as stockpiling stationery at home (an incurable habit) I started looking for unusual items to bring to our gift shop but the choice and excitement of finding new stationery and fascinating stories was too much for one corner of the shop and the idea for a new store was born.

This year my son Monty, who is an artist, has opened an artists’ store as part of Griffin of Easton where you can buy fine quality materials including A Gallo, Wallace Seymour and Rosa paints, brushes, paper, pens, Caran d’ache luminance and watercolour pencils and inks to create your perfect work of art.

Chosen with care

All the stationery and artists’ supplies that we stock are trialled by us and carefully researched. Whether it is intricate Japanese stationery or handmade notebooks from a few miles away, pigment ground colours or the finest cotton paper we aim to bring you something exciting to inspire your creativity and encourage you to find pleasure in the everyday art of journaling, writing, drawing and painting. We would love to see you soon and help you find the right pieces for you.
